HOW YOU CAN HELP
MAKE A DONATION TO HELP WITH THE SCHOOL'S DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Dear Sir/Madam.
APPEALING FOR ASSISTANCE
Agi Awa Bah Nursery School was born out the desire of Mrs. Yaharr Jallow, retired head mistress to meet the increasing
need of children, who live around here to provide them with education of the best quality. This need gave rise to the
birth of the present school.
It has been over twenty years since the birth of the institution and the need for more places is being expressed by the
community. Before the new upstairs classrooms were started there were five class rooms with a roll of one hundred and
eighty seven children. The class rooms were congested though we were trying to meet the needs of so many parents sending
their children to the school.
It is for this reason why we have constructed the two class room blocks and toilets to meet the need of the
parents demand.
A huge
debt of gratitude is due to Jenny Money of Lewes, Sussex and her family for sponsoring this project. Dr Lorenzo Lee of
Florida and others made donations and contributions which helped to finish the upstairs extension.
As you can see from the photograph, the upstairs classrooms are now completed, decorated, tiled, furnished and in
daily use. The role of the school has now been raised to around two hundred and forty.
SPONSOR A CHILD
The school's main objective is to provide quality pre-school education for the poor and underprivileged at an
affordable cost.
In the light of the above, the school fee per term is GMD1,500 making a total of GMD4,500 for the whole year. A
development fee of GMD200 and a new enrolment and registration fee of GMD400.
Every registered child will be given a T-shirt and two school badges. Fees paid for children are used for the payment
of teachers' salaries. We express our sincere gratitude to all those sponsoring children in this school. They might not
have completed their pre-school education without your support.
Here is a copy of the letter that the head teacher, Mrs Jobe sends out to potential sponsors:-
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I write to make an appeal for sponsorship on behalf of the following students who are currently registered in the Aji Awa Bah
nursery school.
These under-privileged children are interested in learning because their peers from well to do parents are in school.
As a result they cry to get their parents to send them to school. But continuity is the problem. Their parents cannot
afford the fees, so these unfortunate children might have to stay away from school if support is not forth coming.
I therefore write to appeal through you to all concerned to sponsor these innocent children for a better tomorrow.
Their lives can be made better with your intervention.
Please help us to help these children and their parents. The requirements for each child are as follows:-
School fee @ D1500 per term |
D4500 |
Development fee per term D200 |
D600 |
TV Fund |
D450 |
Extra Tuition per term D600 |
D1800 |
Total for each child |
D7350 |
With D7350 you can make an enormous difference in one child's life. This is around £80 at current exchange rates. Please choose one child now and save for the
hereafter. "Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy ".
Following this is a list of needy students names and dates of birth. I look forward to your moral and financial support.
Love and best wishes to you all.
Yours faithfully,
Aji Saffie Bobb Jobe

The school now has a UK bank account, managed by Mrs Jallow's daughter, Fatoumatta, so the easiest way to make a donation is by bank transfer. It is with the:-
Natwest Bank,
Account number 78035902,
Sort code is 60-16-19.
This account is just for payments to Agi Awa Bah nursery.
If you decide that you would like to make a donation to help the school or to sponsor a child, please use this account but please also contact Fatoumatta by email -
(Click Here). This is also the contact email, should you want to donate using a different method, cheques. etc.
Since the demise of our dear friend and sponsor, Tony Shepheard. Agi Awa Joseph and her husband took over the
responsibility of sponsoring our yearly Christmas party organised for the school children of Aji Awa Bah Nursery School.
This end of year party is extended to awarding prizes and certificates to the three best children in all the classes
in academic excellence, neatness and good behaviour.
Prizes are also awarded to the three best teachers in classroom management, record keeping, material production
(teaching aids) and pupil/teacher relationships.
A Teacher of the year award is also given to the most hard working who excels in all the above and participates in
extra-curricular activities. This motivates teachers and children to work hard and give of their best.
This special award is sponsored by Dawda Khan of the USA.
May God award them abundantly.
